Teaching Through the Arts with Aliza Sarian
Discover how arts education can nurture well-rounded individuals through learning practical ways to design activities that develop life skills through different art forms

📆 24 Sep 2024 - 25 Sep 2024
📍 Arts Resource Hub @ 42 Waterloo Street
The Arts Resource Hub presented Teaching Through the Arts with Aliza Sarian, in partnership with the MA Arts Pedagogy and Practice programme at LASALLE College of the Arts, University of the Arts Singapore (UAS).
This workshop aims to expand your teaching practice to approach the arts through the lens of developing the whole person. It will examine multidisciplinary arts activities that can engage even the most reluctant artists by emphasising transferable skills–those that can be applied beyond an artistic discipline. This workshop is intended for teaching artists of all media and experience interested in improving their pedagogy.
Specifically, this workshop will answer the following questions:
How do I engage students not interested in the arts?
How do I engage students of different interests and abilities?
What are the transferable skills in my art area that can be integrated across content to teach “through” the arts?
How do I move away from skill-based arts to teach for more complete human beings?
How do I integrate arts with social-emotional learning?
